Abstract:
The sustainability of modern society, corporations, and governments was a critical concern. This study examined the impact of non-financial reporting on investor decisionmaking. Additionally, it analyzed which sector had most effectively adhered to nonfinancial reporting guidelines. Data on financial performance were obtained from companies' annual reports, while business responsibility and sustainability reports provided insights into corporate sustainability efforts. Investor reactions were assessed using information from the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange websites. The findings revealed that financial performance alone was insufficient for investment decisions—investors required additional information. Business responsibility and sustainability reporting significantly influenced the relationship between financial success and investor response. Therefore, investors and stakeholders needed to consider corporate responsibility, sustainability practices, and financial performance. However, the study was limited by the small sample size, as only a few companies had published business responsibility and sustainability reports.
